Keep Hope Alive

Hey friends! Welcome back, and thank you for joining me again this week. When the whole COVID-19 pandemic started, I told myself that I would not write about it here, because it was being covered pretty much 24/7 on all news and social media platforms by people much more intelligent than me, and I felt there wasn’t much I could say about it that hadn’t already been said a million times before. With that being said, it’s been difficult the last few weeks thinking of things to write about that aren’t somehow related to COVID-19, so I’ve given in and will put in my two cents. I promise I’ll keep it short and sweet though.

I don’t believe that it’s overstating anything to say that we’re living through an unprecedented period right now with the COVID-19 pandemic. Yes, there have been other health pandemics (SARS, Swine Flu, etc.) and natural disasters and such that have had major impacts on people and countries, but nothing that has had quite the global impact on society and the global economy as COVID-19. Because of the fact that the time we are living in is unprecedented, it means that there is a lot of uncertainty, doubt, and fear permeating in to people’s lives right now, and that is absolutely okay and normal. What I ask of you all is to not let that fear and doubt overtake you – and instead, keep hope alive.

There are many avenues to pursue in times of doubt to comfort yourself. For many people, that means turning to their religion; for others, they turn to meditation and introspection. Some will find becoming closer with nature to be comforting and soothing, and others will either throw themselves in to an old hobby, or take up a new one altogether. Whatever method works best for you, please do not hesitate to pursue it. When life looks bleak and dreary, we can either choose to let it beat us down and fill us with more fear and doubt and hopelessness, or we can fight back and instead count our blessings and ride out the storm in hopes of clearer skies ahead. I know that it’s much easier said than done sometimes, but I promise you that choosing hope is worth it.

I know that things are scary right now, but just like everything else in life, this too shall pass. It may not happen as soon as we would like, but we’ll all be back to normal eventually. Just keep your head up, search out the good in life, and, most importantly, try to be kind to your fellow humans. Remember, we’re all in this together.

Thank you again for joining me again this week, and I’ll see you all next week! šŸ™‚
